Fäbodskogen nature reserve

The forest adjacent to Gammelbyn’s shielings, around 3 kilometres from Burträsk, is a rare gem. It is one of very few forest areas that still looks like the untouched forests of old. Make your own way betwixt the ancient pines and naturally fallen trees, and embrace the freedom of choosing your own path. With a little luck, you’ll come across plants and animals in the primeval forest that are otherwise very rare this close to the coast. Relax in a dense forest grove and listen to the sounds around you – no noisy streets or footfalls on asphalt. Rest your head against a 100-year-old pine and marvel at how the gnarled old spruces turn the forest into a work of art. In Fäbodskogen there is only nature – untouched, undisturbed and unbelievably beautiful – just as it should be.
